Helsinki, 28 February, 2003 (Esmerk) --- In Finland, the city of Espoo
will start to test Linux operating system at four schools. The goal is
to cut to maintenance costs per work station to zero. IT manager Ritva
Tolvanen says the city will replace the NT environment almost entirely
with Linux servers. The new system will be based on the Tarantella
software that will replace for instance the Microsoft login services.
Tarantella is based on Linux servers. The pupils will also have the free
Openoffice or Staroffice software.
