Thanks for your reply. Indeed i have a yamaha driver. My ticket
submission was only to clear that the italian FAQ provided by samsung is
inherently wrong.
even if samsung doesn't support linux as an operating system (and i feel
quite astonished noting that instead DOS is supported) in its marketing
and tech strategy, saying that linux does allow nothing more than a
cd reader use case for whichever cd burner on the market is plain wrong
and misleading.

until samsung cd burners comply with known standards, there's no need
for samsung to provide software. Indeed it's since the beginning of the
linux community that standardized, well known devices are well supported
and their usage is granted, even if the hardware vendor ignores (or even
boycotts) our contribution to its market share and diffusion as a good
working devices.

given the reading function is also provided from software (the kernel
driver), and since also that mmc extensions and ATA or SCSI are
supported by our burning software, i can't still see a reason for how a
standard cd burner shouldn't work on linux.

despite this affirmation (probably the provided software works on WINE)
i wish to remember that i usually buy a cd burner for the cd burner
itself, not for the provided software. Maybe should i buy a Ford only
for the bridgestone tires mounted on it ?

this is, however, not the point. My ticket is only to give advice about
the wrong and misleading faq on your site, hoping it will be fixed soon.

thanks for your attention,
