7. SOFTWARE GIANT WINS PATENT FOR TECHNOLOGY USING SKIN AS A RELAY DEVICE
Microsoft has successfully sought a patent that would enable devices to use
human (and animal) skin as a "personal area network" to transmit both power
and data. Powered with pulsed AC or DC signals, the technology would reduce
redundancy of input/output functions on watches, pagers, PDAs, radios and
other small electronics people may carry. Versions of it would use 100Hz or
150Hz for power; data signals would be modulated on top of the power
signals. The device would even employ skin's natural quality of resistance
